Time Detectives (Simon and Schuster, 1995; now in paperback from Touchstone Books) This is a book about the impact of science on archaeology and covers a variety interesting examples, from research into ancient California canoes and seafaring, to the Uluburun shipwreck off southern Turkey that dates to 1310 B.C., and the pharaoh Tutankhamun’s wines. Time Detectives is a useful introduction to the technicalities of modern scientific archaeology.
